The Babbler #13: In Time

The movie In Time was released on October 28, 2011. The movie is set in the future where time has replaced money. It’s a place where everyone doesn’t age past 25, but the day of their 25th birthday a timer is set for a year and if this timer runs out you die thus making time the currency. The poor live by the day in the Ghettos while the rich live for centuries and thus become immortals.

I will not go deep into the movie because that’s not what’s this Babbler is about. I want to focus on the concept. Time is money in this movie and it represents how important we make money in our lives and that time is a lot more important then money. Or is it? Is money as important than time. Some would say no but money could get you the right heath treatment so that we could live longer, right?

Time is more important than money because no matter how much you’re able to save or money you could generate before you die time runs out and that’s it. If you have money and lose it you can always gain capitol but you can not get any more time when yours runs out. Money some times can prolong life if you could afford the cost of the medicine or surgery.

But we all take time for gained. We prolong doing things we need to be cause we think that we have the time to do it later. We waste so much time complaining or dreaming about things and not actually making our time hear worth living. We work all day and sometimes forget to have fun while others have fun and forgo the work. What do we live for? Why are we born with a timer? Who knows? But the one thing I do know is that we have the opportunity to make our lives into the way that we want to. And my faithful readers I’m going to leave you with that.

So now go out and make your time here mean something, because I will.
